About Rushwind Shelties

Located in northwest Indiana, Rushwind Shelties is a small hobby kennel that has been active in AKC conformation with their shelties since 2001. Rushwind has produced ASSA national placement winners, sheltie specialty winners, champions in conformation and agility as well as titleists in obedience, nosework, herding, and therapy work.  We are proud of all of our dog's accomplishments - even those that that earn the champion couch potato title!

Each litter is carefully planned using the AKC Standard of the Breed as the guideline for breeding decisions.  All parents are health tested for hips, eyes and have had their genetic screening completed for vWD, MDR1, and DMS.  Puppies are raised in our home and are socialized to a variety of experiences and settings prior to their placement in new homes which does not occur before they reach eight weeks of age. New families must come to our home to pick up their puppy  - we do not ship.

We work deligently to promote the best interests of the breed by our involvemnt in breed activities:

• Member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA)
  • Served as ASSA Futurity Chairman for six years
  • Served as ASSA Region 4 Representative for four years
• Past member of Interlocking Shetland Sheepdog of Monee
  • Servied as President for several terms
  • Served as an officer and Board member every year as a member

Two sable and white male puppies.  Both are beautifully marked with full white collars  and have fantastic temperaments.  Would excel in obedience, agility as well as make great companions.

Parents of puppies are active in AKC conformation with the sire being a Grand Champion and have been fully health tested.  Contact us for more information.
